CONSTRUCTION OF METASTABLE STATES IN QUANTUM ELECTRODYNAMICS
2004
In this paper, we construct metastable states of atoms interacting with the quantized radiation field. These states emerge from the excited bound states of the non-interacting system. We prove that these states obey an exponential time-decay law. In detail, we show that their decay is given by an exponential function in time, predicted by Fermi's Golden Rule, plus a small remainder term. The latter is proportional to the (4+β)th power of the coupling constant and decays algebraically in time. As a result, though it is small, it dominates the decay for large times. A central point of the paper is that our remainder term is significantly smaller than the one previously obtained in [1] and as…
Long-distance structure of the X(3872)
2014
We investigate heavy quark symmetries for heavy meson hadronic molecules, and explore the consequences of assuming the X(3872) and $Z_b(10610)$ as an isoscalar $D\bar D^*$ and an isovector $B\bar B^*$ hadronic molecules, respectively. The symmetry allows to predict new hadronic molecules, in particular we find an isoscalar $1^{++}$ $B\bar B^*$ bound state with a mass about 10580 MeV and the isovector charmonium partners of the $Z_b(10610)$ and the $Z_b(10650)$ states. Next, we study the $X(3872) \to D^0 \bar D^0\pi^0$ three body decay. This decay mode is more sensitive to the long-distance structure of the X(3872) resonance than its $J/\psi\pi\pi$ and $J/\psi3\pi$ decays, which are mainly c…
Harmonic generation in all-dielectric metasurfaces
2023
Nonlinear light generation is a key phenomenon in many optical systems. Recently, the field of nonlinear optics has moved to the miniaturization of conventional bulky components. Among all the new platforms that have been proposed, dielectric nanoscale resonators represent excellent candidates for light generation and manipulation. When arranged in periodic arrays, such high refractive index scattering components become an artificial material called metasurface. Several approaches for designing platforms with enhanced optical nonlinearities at moderate pump intensities have been proposed. In this chapter, we review the most recent results on second- and third-order nonlinear processes in hi…
Ds0⁎±(2317)and KD scattering fromBs0decay
2015
We study the B¯s0→Ds−(KD)+ weak decay, and look at the KD invariant mass distribution, for which we use recent lattice QCD results for the KD interaction from where the Ds0⁎(2317) resonance appears as a KD bound state. Since there are not yet experimental data on this reaction, in a second step we propose an analysis method to obtain information on the Ds0⁎(2317) resonance from the future experimental KD mass distribution in this decay. For this purpose, we generate synthetic data taking a few points from our theoretical distribution, to which we add a 5% or 10% error. With this analysis method, we prove that one can obtain from these “data” the existence of a bound KD state, the KD scatter…
Diquark-diquark correlations in theS01ΛΛpotential
2005
We derive a $\ensuremath{\Lambda}\ensuremath{\Lambda}$ potential from a chiral constituent quark model that has been successful in describing one, two, and three nonstrange baryon systems. The resulting interaction at low energy is attractive at all distances due to the $\ensuremath{\sigma}$ exchange term. The attraction allows for a slightly bound state just below the $\ensuremath{\Lambda}\ensuremath{\Lambda}$ threshold. No short-range repulsive core is found. We extract the diquark-diquark contribution that turns out to be the most attractive and probable at small distances. At large distances the asymptotic behavior of the $\ensuremath{\Lambda}\ensuremath{\Lambda}$ interaction provides a…
Muon capture in11B
1971
In this paper the partial-capture rates of muons in11B going to11Be(g.s.) and11Be (320 keV), as well as the hyperfine effect in the transition to11Be*, are studied. Comparing these results with the beta-decay of11Be and the electromagnetic transition11Be* →11Be, we can derive some conclusions on the nuclear structure of the bound states of11Be. We also discuss some possible experiences which can give information on the pseudoscalar form factor in weak interactions.
Search for a Stable Six-Quark State at BABAR
2019
Recent investigations have suggested that the six-quark combination uuddss could be a deeply bound state (S) that has eluded detection so far, and a potential dark matter candidate. We report the first search for a stable, doubly strange six-quark state in Upsilon -> S anti-Lambda anti-Lambda decays based on a sample of 90 million Upsilon(2S) and 110 million Upsilon(3S) decays collected by the BABAR experiment. No signal is observed, and 90% confidence level limits on the combined Upsilon(2S,3S) -> S anti-Lambda anti-Lambda branching fraction in the range (1.2-1.4)x10^-7 are derived for m_S < 2.05 GeV. These bounds set stringent limits on the existence of such exotic particles.
Bound states of $^+$ in nuclei
2005
We study the binding energy and the width of the $^+$ in nuclei, associated to the $K N$ and $ K N$ components. The first one leads to negligible contributions while the second one leads to a sizeable attraction, enough to bind the $^+$ in nuclei. Pauli blocking and binding effects on the $K N$ decay reduce considerably the $^+$ decay width in nuclei and medium effects associated to the $ K N$ component also lead to a very small width, as a consequence of which one finds separation between the bound levels considerably larger than the width of the states.
Systematic analysis of the peripherality of the Be10(d,p)Be11 transfer reaction and extraction of the asymptotic normalization coefficient of Be11 bo…
2018
We reanalyze the experiment of Schmitt et al. on the $^{10}\mathrm{Be}(d,p)^{11}\mathrm{Be}$ transfer reaction [Phys. Rev. Lett. 108, 192701 (2012)] by exploring the beam-energy and angular ranges at which the reaction is strictly peripheral. We consider the adiabatic distorted wave approximation (ADWA) to model the reaction and use a Halo-EFT description of $^{11}\mathrm{Be}$ to systematically explore the sensitivity of our calculations to the short-range physics of the $^{10}\mathrm{Be}\ensuremath{-}n$ wave function. We find that by selecting the data at low beam energy and forward scattering angle the calculated cross sections scale nearly perfectly with the asymptotic normalization coef…
Vacancy-like Dressed States in Topological Waveguide QED
2020
We identify a class of dressed atom-photon states formingat the same energy of the atom at any coupling strength. As a hallmark, their photonic component is an eigenstate of the bare photonic bath with a vacancy in place of the atom. The picture accommodates waveguide-QED phenomena where atoms behave as perfect mirrors, connecting in particular dressed bound states (BS) in the continuum or BIC with geometrically-confined photonic modes. When applied to photonic lattices, the framework provides a general criterion to predict dressed BS in lattices with topological properties by putting them in one-to-one correspondence with photonic BS. New classes of dressed BS are thus predicted in the pho…
